Cellophane Bag Toppers
         
  A bog topper is a piece of stamped, and possibly layered, cardstock that you attach to the top of a cellophane bag. This not only keeps the bag closed, but makes it much more fun. You can attach the topper in many way for different looks.  
     
  Supplies:      
 
 
  • cardstock
  • cellophane bag or zip-lock bag, any size
  • stamps
  • ink pads
  • ruler
  • bone paper folder
  • possibly color (watercolors, markers, pastels, etc...)
 
  Step 1:      
  Determine the size of your topper. Make a note of the height and width; we will refer to them in the next step.  
  The width of the topper will be the width of the bag.  
The width of the bag is 4"
 
         
 

The height depends on how large the bag is. You can decide how you tall you want it; it may depend on the design you want to stamp on it. Generally somewhere between 1" and 2" high is good.

The height of your cardstock will be twice the height you decided on above (you have to fold it in half).

  
I want the height to be 1 3/4", so I will cut it to 3 1/2" high.
 
     
  Step 2:      
  Cut you piece the size determined in step one. I will use the sizes I determined in step 1 for these instructions, but realize you can vary these sizes.  
4" x 3 1/2"
 
       
  Step 3:      
  Score each piece down the center and fold in half.  
 
Score it down the middle, in this case at 1 3/4"
Close it and flatten the fold with the edge of the bone folder.
 
     
  Step 4:  
  Now you are ready to stamp. You can stamp on the topper or use a wheel. You may choose to have the back and front the same, or you may want to put a sticker on the back with your contact information.  
     
  Step 5: Optional  
  You may choose to cut the edges of your topper with decorative scissors or layer it with a solid colored cardstock. If you layer, the background layer will be the size calculated in step 1, and the layer you stamp on will be slightly smaller.  
     
  Step 6:  
  There are several ways to attach the topper to your bag. Whatever you use, be sure it can go through all layers, from the front to the back. Oh, and be sure to FILL the bags before attaching the topper.
